Betray the waiting
04/28 2022
How soft your voice twirls against the waves.
Crashing against the limitless shore
Where time waits for its numb eternity;
And pebbles the witness as it falls, and dies.
I awake to search for something to hold,
The last plank of the shipwreck I was part of.
I awake to a life in disguise ---
Restrained to confess any truth
Except the few hairs on my chin
That betray the waiting.
How light your movement of the arm
As you point towards the horizon.
The sun sets and rises over the bay
Spread between our two dissonant symphonies:
One of darkness and woe; harsh smoke
One the fire that even the sun looks upon.
"Burn, burn, burn" she says,
And the silver moon obeys in envy.
