An Echo From A Distant Past
10/12 2021
Could it be an echo from a distant past
As I sit besides you during the sunset
That shines a darkened solemn light to contrast
The things that we say nothing of, our debt.
Sometimes a boat passes by, and we laugh
Laugh at precisely that moment of time
When memory fades on our behalf
When all that is, is us and our crime.
Could we really say that it is over,
That the water by us just passes by
As you lean in on my shoulder closer.
We warm ourselves on our goodbye.
So long as this sunset comes again, then too
You and I shall sit and wonder: whereto?
