Like Isabella
12/19 2023
We were walking down the empty avenue
And you were talking but it went straight through.
I offer passage from the earth formed from the frost,
And just like Isabella, Bella waits patiently to cross.
I was too busy listening for the music on the trail
Which chased us, though Bella unaware of the impending hail.
Images of ancient bonds haunted me, and I struggled to bluff,
But like Isabella, Bella thought reality was enough.
While I looked up to paintings in museums and saw her face
It remained Isabella that I, in my mind, gave chase.
Bella gives her word freely, and while short it lacked guile,
Just like Isabella, Bella greeted her mother with a smile.
I could not hope to explain the never ending battle,
I hardly have sharp enough wit to describe the electric rattle,
All I know is that while Bella was often enough for me
She remained parts of Isabella who holds the key.
